Lucas' Tattoo

Lucas got a tattoo- his favorite poker hand with a US American Eagle coin on top of it. He went to Wingnut in Anoka- they did a really nice job!

1 Year Anniversary- 06/18/09

Lucas and I searched for a good seafood restaurant to have our 1 Year Anniversary dinner. After consulting a few people they all suggested The Oceanaire in downtown Minneapolis. Lucas had seen the sign for there several times and had always wanted to try eating there. At first I was a little hesitant because of the cost, but it didn't end up being as much as expected and even though it was higher priced, it was worth EVERY penny.

When we arrived, the menus that we had said "Happy 1st Anniversary" on the top. Our waiter Jim was fabulous- he had a good sense of humor and knew how to host a table. The food was AMAZING! I had a halibut t-bone and Lucas had swordfish. We even got a free flaming dessert for our Anniversary. Lucas and I plan to dine here each year to bring Jamaica back to us since that is where we were married.

This is my halibut t-bone.

This is our flaming dessert- it was a meringue over cookies and cream ice cream on top of chocolate sponge cake. The fire was turpentine and a rum.

Up North- Alexandria- June 2009

We were invited to my grandparents new place up in Alexandria. We had Alexander that weekend and all he wanted to do was fish. He kept Gramps busy catching the big ones and telling him "I'm a real fisherman."

Lucas could only catch little ones- looked like bait!
He helped drive on the pontoon.Hanging out at the lake with dad!

Keith Urban- May 2009

Lucas and I love Keith Urban. We saw that he was coming and snatched up some cheap seats and invited Shylah and Michael along as their birthday gift. Lucas surprised us and upgraded to the 15th row- we had a great view and the concert was AWESOME! We will definitely be seeing him every chance we get!

A Day with Friends- May 2009

We have been waiting a long time for Alexander to meet Lucas' friend Brad's daughter Jayden. I saw that the Seussical was coming to Blaine High School, so I bought tickets and we made a day of it.
I found some kites at the dollar store- they were made of cheap material but did the job and lasted over an hour. Pretty sure that Lucas and Brad had more fun than the kids did!

After kites, we made dinner and then headed to the Seussical. The play was pretty good and the kids loved it!

Peanut Butter Cookies

Lucas has been asking me to make peanut butter cookies (which he tells me are BETTER than Mrs. Field's) and I keep telling him it is too much work! Well Alexander was here this weekend and his teacher said it would be good to have him work on tasks and following directions at home. So here was my attempt- we made peanut butter cookies together. I told him that he better watch out because if he knows how to make them, we might be making them every weekend that he is here! He did really good- and I think he has it down! Oh no! :)

Putting Everything in the Bowl
Mixing it up with the mixer.

Of Course, Can't Forget to Lick the Mixer.

Easter 2009

We spent Easter with my family. It was a great get-together as usual- excellent food and good company. We got the cutest Easter baskets full of candy. The kids all participated in an Easter egg hunt, it was so cute. Unfortunately Alexander was not able to spend this holiday with us, but we will celebrate with him when we get him next! Here is our Easter picture that we had my Aunt Tara take.

Babysitting Rocks

Almost 2 years ago now, Lucas and I babysat for a cousin of mine. They have 3 small children (2 boys and a girl) who are a lot of fun to hang out with. Well the deal was- if we babysat we will get some tickets to a concert or sporting event. Finally I received a phone call from my cousin and he had 2 club level tickets to the Wild game. HOCKEY again- seems to be a theme here! It was a fantastic game, the Wild won 4-0. I texted my cousin and asked when he needed another babysitter! :)

March = Hockey

March 14- High School Hockey Championship Game

For the third year in a row, as a family, we went to the boys high school hockey state championship at the Xcel Energy Center. This year it was Warroad vs. Breck- It was a pretty good game to watch...Breck won. Alexander chose popcorn for his snack as usual- but wanted everything that the venders were selling this year... including Cotton Candy. This coming from a kid asking if there is sugar in stuff because sugar is "bad for you!" We had a lot of fun at the game!

March 22- Wild Game

Someone at Sara's work was selling Wild tickets, so we swooped them up! They were in the 10th row where the Wild shoot twice. The seats were AWESOME... right next to the action! We had a lot of fun- and the game was great. Wild won 3-0.

The odd thing- I left the house with $75 in my wallet.. paid $10 for parking. Then Lucas and I both had a pop for $4.50 a piece, Lucas had Chicken Wings for $6.75 and Mini-Donuts for $4, and Sara had Popcorn for $6. That equals $35.75 .. when I add it up! Well, I still have $55 in my wallet?? Explain that one?!?! I think some workers at the game should brush up on their math skills! I didn't even notice until we were on the car ride home!
